UMI-Sci-Ed Project in the University of Patras: 3rd Summer School on “ICT and Applications”

On June 25-26, 2018, the activities of UMI-Sci-Ed project were presented during the days of 3rd Summer School on “ICT and Applications”. This summer school was targeted to the students of the last year studies of Lyceums, from the local region of the city of Patras, Greece.

The summer school was organized by the University of Patras and hosted at the premises of Computer Engineering & Informatics Department (CEID) of the University of Patras. The 3rd Summer School on “ICT and Applications” was widely disseminated by electronic means on social media and through a targeted e-mail campaign.

The UMI-Sci-Ed project presentation was organized by Nicolas Sklavos, Ioannis Zaharakis and Achilles Kameas.

Nicolas Sklavos introduced the UMI-Sci-Ed project in his presentation and figured out the project objectives and achievements. The next part was dedicated to a detailed overview about the scientific infrastructure of the project. The last part, focused to one of the developed educational scenarios, entitled “UMI-Sci-Ed: Internet of Things (IoT) and Security”.

In the discussion that followed, the students expressed their strong interest in the UMI-Sci-Ed project, especially for the presented educational scenario and the hardware platform. The positive outcomes are the interesting questions, the fruitful exchange of opinions and the high expression of interest, shown by the students and school teachers for participation in the piloting phase of the project.
